EFCA One Review

glenschrieber

EFCA One is the biennial national conference of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). The conference is a time of worship, learning and connecting with other EFCA members. It was also the association’s business meeting - a chance for the EFCA’s 134th General Conference to gather to hear board and ministry reports highlighting what God is doing in and through the EFCA and to elect EFCA officers and members of various EFCA boards and committees.

I am continually grateful for the EFCA and delighted to be a part of this movement. The EFCA exists to glorify God by multiplying transformational churches among all people. The association does this in many ways like equipping each other and protecting the association through ordination, including discipline, which was on display at this conference. The EFCA’s desire is to help us stand firm and do our best work for the evangelization and discipleship of all people to the glory of God.

Also on display was the godliness of the leaders of the EFCA and their commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ and the unity of the church. One of the ways this is manifest is in this very recent statement, clarifying the association’s position in an age where churches are so easily divided as people get swept into cultural and political narratives and the meaning of words can sift so suddenly. The EFCA is attempting to navigate these stormy seas in a way that honors Jesus. Please take a few minutes to read Where We Stand in the EFCA: Denials and Affirmations.

If you are interested in a bit of the history of the EFCA and what the EFCA is up to today, I recommend the videos linked herein.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10, ESV.
